Needless to say, relationships and even marriages have ended because of the little feature called last seen online.

WhatsApp, Viber, and Facebook Messenger are some of the most commonly used messaging apps. They allow you to send and receive texts, images, videos, and files, as well as always stay connected with your friends and family.

However, messaging apps can also be a gap that divides us from one another. Needless to say, relationships and even marriages have ended because of the little feature called last seen online. There is practically no person who has not heard or said the words “You told me you were going to sleep but stayed online until 3 a.m.”

But how to avoid these unpleasant situations, unnecessary fights, and keep your privacy? Simply hide your WhatsApp last seen online status!

No matter if you are an Android or iOS user, the process of hiding your WhatsApp last seen online status is pretty much the same.

To disable your online status, just follow these few simple steps:

1. Open WhatsApp

In order to change your WhatsApp last seen online status, you will have to open the application by clicking on the app icon on your home screen. You will be presented with application’s interface.

How to Temporarily Hide Your WhatsApp Online Status

The important thing to note is that by using the steps listed above, you are only able to disable the LAST SEEN option, not the ONLINE option. That means that your contacts will still be able to see if you are using the app in the real time.

Probably the only way to temporarily change your WhatsApp online status without using third-party tools is to switch to airplane mode. That way, you will be able to read the message you have received without appearing online. Also, a person who has sent you the message will not be able to see if the message has been read.

What is WhatsApp Ghost?

WhatsApp Ghost is an Android app that allows you to read messages on WhatsApp in incognito mode. You can download the app from the Google Play Store.

The installation of the app does not differ from any other Play Store app. Once it is completed, you will be able to enable or disable ghost mode whenever you want.

Your user experience will remain on the same level, and the only difference is that you will be in the stealth mode. However, what this app does is simulate the airplane mode.

How to Appear Invisible for Only One Person

If you have only one person who is constantly bugging you every time you appear online, you do not have to hide your WhatsApp online status. All you have to do is block him or her.

However, if the individual is harassing you or making threats, you should definitely inform the authorities.

To block a contact on WhatsApp, follow these simple steps:

1. Open the app

2. Select the chat/contact you would like to block

Open WhatsApp chats. 3. Click Options

4. Click More

5. Select Block

How to Hide Your Status

If you like to post statuses on WhatsApp, but you do not want everyone to see them, you can adjust this security setting as well.

First, repeat the steps one to five. The next step would be to click the Status section.

Select your profile photo.

The app gives you three options—to share your profile photo with everyone, your contacts or with nobody.

Disabling “Seen” Feature on WhatsApp

Along with hiding your WhatsApp last seen status, if you like to protect your privacy and your right not to respond to someone’s message instantly, you can also disable the Seen feature.

Repeat the steps one to five. Scroll all the way down to the Messaging section and uncheck Read recipients box.

Disabling “Seen” Feature on WhatsApp

Keep in mind that by disabling this feature, you also will not be able to see if somebody else has read your message.

Given the fact that we live in an era where you can get addicted to almost any tech product, hiding your WhatsApp last seen status can save you a lot of trouble with demanding friends or significant others.

Individuals who are suffering from last seen online syndrome feel the constant urge to check if and when their partner was online. If this is the case, the best option is to talk about trust issues (if a relationship is worth saving) or to hide your last seen status if you are tired of nagging.
